Newborn photography is such a specialized form of photography. You can be great with a camera, know all your settings, style everything beautifully, but that won't help you with a newborn.
With newborns you need to know how to wrap and pose them safely. This is why it is important to book a photographer that specializes in newborns. The photographers that specialize in newborns have most likely had training in posing and wrapping of babies. Their most important mission is to keep your little one safe.
Ashley Szokola Photography specializes in newborn photography. I have been trained by multiple people in posing and safety of these sweet babies. I know how to calm them and move them in a way that keeps them safe and gets them into the position to be photographed.
One of my trainings was with Ana Brandt and very well known newborn photographer based out of California. I went to her in-person training two years ago. It was a wonderful training where all the trainee's worked with the models and learned a lot.
I have worked a few years to hone my craft of newborn photography so that you get a wonderful gallery full of beautiful images of your baby.
All my sessions at Ashley Szokola Photography are baby led. I focus on the needs of the baby and make sure they are happy with each pose and never force them into something they are uncomfortable with.
So the biggest thing to remember when looking for a newborn photographer is to look for one that specializes in newborn photography. That photographer should be trained in newborn posing and safety!
